Application for a Sweden Visa

Applicants travelling to Sweden can submit their applications online. Applicants who has Iceland as their main destination can hand in paper applications but may also apply online. First follows a description on how to apply online. Further down you will find instructions on how to apply on a paper application.06 SEP 2019

Registering for your online application

When registering your account for the online application form, at the 3rd stage of the registration, you will come to a box which requests you to add your mobile number. Please unmark this box, then click on the box Nästa (Next), you will now be able to process your registration.

Please apply for your visa electronically and book an appointment which is at least 14 days prior to your scheduled departure. Updated regulations- more information here

Applying online

You can apply online together with your husband/wife and unmarried children under 18 years of age. Any other people you wish to travel with  have to make their own online applications.

1. Prepare the documentation

Check which documents and personal information you need. You must for instance have a valid passport, a medical travel insurance and have booked an air ticket (although we advise not to purchase your ticket until your visa has been granted), and you must also have an invitation from the host in Sweden.

2. Applying online

Visit the Swedish Migration Agency website and read the instructions you need. When applying online,  you can scan all your documents and attach them to your application. You may also pay online with your bank/credit card, if you choose the option `I choose to pay later´ you can find more information here. Please note that you have to show all your documents when visiting the Embassy. National/local documents must be presented in original and you must be able to show Swedish documents in original if requested by the Embassy. As a step of the online application you will be pompted to book an appointment to submit your documents in person at the Embassy.

3. Telephone enquires

4. Visit the Embassy

When visiting the Embassy at the appointed time, please bring your passport with you together with the printed online application as well as all the scanned and additional documents including a receipt of bankpayment. If you do not have all the documents with you, there is a risk that your application will be rejected. During the visit you may also be required to answer some additional questions.

As from 6 June 2013, all applicants age 12 and above must have his or her biometric information taken: fingerprints, signature and photograph.

All family members who apply at the same time, including children, must visit the Embassy.

5. Wait for the decision

You can log in on ‘My page for e-visa’and see if there is a decision in your case.

When there is a decision in your case the Embassy will conact you. You will then be able to collect your passport and decision during Embassy opening hours.

Applying by paper application- optional for all applicants

If you apply to travel to Iceland or cannot for some reason submit your application online, you can submit your paper application and additional required documents.

2. Pay the application fee

Before you hand in your application, the relevant application fee (see under Fees) has to be paid to the Embassy’s bank account in Tanzanian Shillings and to bring the original bank receipt to the Embassy when submitting your application. Please make sure that the applicant’s name clearly appears on the bankreceipt.

3. Make an appointment

4. Visit the Embassy
