The Embassy of Brazil in Dar es Salaam represents Brazil and its citizens in Tanzania in many areas such as trade promotion, cultural diffusion, international cooperation and consular services. Reopened in 2005, a Brazilian Embassy in Dar es Salaam has since then been promoting dialogue and cooperation between the two countries and offering assistance to Brazilian citizens. In July 2010, the first visit of a Brazilian head of state to the country was made. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s visit to Tanzania was a milestone in relations between the two countries. During a visit, bilateral contacts were deepened in areas such as biofuels, agriculture, infrastructure investments and mining and trade. The Embassy is also working to promote Brazilian culture in Tanzania. Endorsing film, food and music festivals and encouraging Brazilian art of capoeira, much appreciated in the country. Since 2011, the Embassy has been representing the Brazilian Government with the Secretariat of the East African Community (EAC). The Embassy has also been responsible for bilateral relations between Brazil and the Republic of Seychelles and the Union of Comoros.
