GENERAL RUSSIA VISA APPLICATION INFORMATION

All foreign nationals are required to do Russia visa application to travel to the Russian Federation. Visa application is done on the embassy.An entry visa is a document, permitting stay in Russia for a specific period of time. It indicates entry/exit dates, name of its holder, passport details and a purpose of travel.

The Consular section of the Embassy issues different categories of entry visas to Russia, namely business, tourist, private and humanitarian visas.

The following documents should be submitted in order to obtain a visa according to its category:

  1. Completed visa application filled out online at http://visa.kdmid.ru printed and than signed only by the applicant personally.

All questions in the application form should be answered. If a question is not applicable to the applicant, “N/A” should be noted as answer to that question. Incomplete visa application forms will not be processed.

  1. Valid national passport (original only and it should have at least two clear visa pages). It must be valid no less than six months after the visa expiration date.
  2. One color passport-size picture of the applicant .
  3. Copy of the receipt from an NMB branch, confirming payment for the appropriate  visa fee.

Details of the Embassy’s account in NMB, as well as addresses of Bank’s branches can be obtained from the Consular section.

Visa fees are in US dollars but are to be paid in Tanzanian shillings. Exact amounts are subject to fluctuation.

Visa fees are not refundable.

  1. Invitation to Russia from a host person or organization.

When applying for a Russian entry visa be advised that:

  • Non-Tanzania citizens should also provide proof of legality of their stay in the United Republic of Tanzania when applying for a visa.
  • Applicants who are former  USSR or the Russian Federation citizens  must submit one of the documents confirming that they are no longer citizens. Applications without such documentation will not be accepted.
  • In accordance with Russian laws citizens of the Russian Federation regardless of any other citizenship they may have, are supposed to travel to Russia on valid Russian documents only.
  • Visa processing time starts only after the Consular section has received all necessary documents.
  • Type of visa or dates of entry/departure can not be changed or extended. If your travel plans have changed after the visa issuance you have to reapply for a new visa.
  • After you received your visa, please check all the data indicated in it and, if necessary, return it to the Consular section for corrections. The Consular section will not be responsible for any mistakes in the visas, which were not brought to our attention prior to your departure for Russia.
  • Any visa applicant may be interviewed by the consular officer, if necessary.
  • Processing time, requirements and fees are subject to change without notice.
  • In certain cases the Consular section is entitled to consider visa applications as long as it necessary. Visa can be denied if the Consular section has serious reasons to believe that an applicant’s trip into the Russian Federation will not be desirable and the disclosure of the reason for the denial can be withheld.
  •  Please be advised that person can not hold two valid entry visas. In this case the first visa is to be cancelled.

INFORMATION  FOR  EU  PASSPORT  HOLDERS

According to the provisions of the Russia-EU Visa Facilitation Agreement, enforced  on the 1st of June, 2007, visa processing fees are changed for the citizens of the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary, Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Estonia.

Citizens of these countries should submit national medical insurance certificate valid for Russia or guarantee of medical coverage from a Russian hosting organization for all period of stay. Medical insurance certificate should contain Russian contact phone number for emergency or assistance.

These provisions are not valid for the countries which did not sign the Agreement, in particular: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Iceland and Norway.

Holders of diplomatic passports of the countries mentioned above do not need a visa to enter Russia for 90 days.

The fees are:

• For all types of visa (including multiple entry) for 4-20 working days processing – 35 Euros

• For all types of visa (including multiple entry) for urgent (1-3 working days) processing – 70 Euros

Tourist visa application

Tourist Visa is issued for a period no longer than 30 days and can be single-entry or double-entry

·  Application form completed and signed by applicant with 1 photo (passport size, color) glued to the form. NOTE! Incomplete visa application may result in rejection of documents. 

· Valid Passport (only in original and valid for at least six months after the last day of the intended stay in Russia). NOTE! Non-tanzanian nationals must submit valid Residence Permit (Work Permi). 

· Tourist Confirmation of Acceptance issued by the Russian tourist company accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia showing the reference number as well as the names of applicants, dates of entry & departure. NOTE! A hotel booking is not sufficient.

· Copy of return air ticket. Please note:
· Application should be submitted not less than 3 days prior to entry into Russia. For cruise tourists in case of staying on board of a ship for not more than 3 days and going sightseeing on a guided tours a visa is not required. 

Business Visa application

Single-entry and double-entry Business Visas are issued for a period no longer than 90 days. Multiple-entry Business Visa is issued for up to 1 year. Please note, that multiple-entry visa permits the holder to stay at the territory f Russia no more than 90 days in every 180 days)

·  Application form completed and signed by applicant with 1 photo (passport size, color) glued to the form.NOTE!
Incomplete visa application may result in rejection of documents. 

· Valid Passport (only in original and valid for at least six months after the last day of the intended stay in Russia).NOTE!
Non-tanzanian nationals must submit valid Residence Permit (Work Permit). 

The original invitation issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia or the Federal Migration Service of Russia must be submitted to the Embassy’s disposal.NOTE!
Only original invitation is accepted when lodging a visa application. A telex confirmation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia going directly to the Consular Office is also acceptable.

Humanitarian Visa

Single-entry and double-entry Humanitarian Visas are issued for a period no longer than 90 days. Multiple-entry Business Visa is issued for up to 1 year. Please note, that multiple-entry visa permits the holder to stay at the territory of Russia no more than 90 days in every 180 days

· Application form completed and signed by applicant with 1 photo (passport size, color) glued to the form.NOTE!
Incomplete visa application may result in rejection of documents. 

· Valid Passport (only in original and valid for at least six months after the last day of the intended stay in Russia).NOTE!
Non-tanzanian nationals must submit valid Residence Permit (Work Permit). 

The original invitation issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia or the Federal Migration Service of Russia must be submitted to the Embassy’s disposal.NOTE!
Only original invitation is accepted when lodging a visa application. A telex confirmation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia going directly to the Consular Office is also acceptable.

Visitor’s/Private Visa

Visitor’s/Private Visa is issued for a period no longer than 90 days and can be single-entry or double-entry

· Application form completed and signed by applicant with 1 photo (passport size, color) glued to the form.NOTE!
Incomplete visa application may result in rejection of documents. 

· Valid Passport (only in original and valid for at least six months after the last day of the intended stay in Russia).NOTE!
Non-tanzanian nationals must submit valid Residence Permit (Work Permit). 

Inviting person, Russian citizen must appeal to the local representation of the Federal Migration Service of Russia in order to organize an official invitation. A foreigner currently residing in Russia appeals to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia for the invitation.NOTE!
Only original invitation is accepted when lodging a visa application. A telex confirmation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia going directly to the Consular Office is also acceptable.

Work and Student Visas

Work Visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry. Study Visa is issued for a period no longer than 90 days and can be single-entry only

·  Application form completed and signed by applicant with 1 photo (passport size, color) glued to the form.NOTE!
Incomplete visa application may result in rejection of documents. 

· Valid Passport (only in original and valid for at least eighteen months).NOTE!
Non-tanzanian nationals must submit valid Residence Permit (Work Permit).

· The original invitation issued by the Federal Migration Service of Russia must be submitted to the Embassy’s disposal.NOTE!
Only original invitation is accepted when lodging a visa application. A telex confirmation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia going directly to the Consular Office is also acceptable.

· An HIV/AIDS negative test (not older than 3 months) must be provided.

  Medical (Travel) insurance for the period of stay in Russia.

Transit visa

Transit Visa is issued for up to 3 days, if you travel by air, or for up to 10 days, if using other means  of transportation and can be single-entry or double-entry

·  Application form completed and signed by applicant with 1 photo (passport size, color) glued to the form.NOTE!
Incomplete visa application may result in rejection of documents. 

· Valid Passport (only in original and valid for at least six months after the last day of the intended stay in Russia).NOTE!
Non-tanzanian nationals must submit valid Residence Permit (Work Permit).

· Valid visa of the country of final destination.

· Air ticket to Russia and from Russia to the country of final destination.Please note:
A Transit Visa is not required if you remain in the transit zone of the airport in order to catch an onward or connecting flight within 24 hours of arrival.
